OLSSON – MILLIONS
RELEASED MAY 12th THROUGH UNIVERSAL
On Millions, the Swedish production and songwriting extraordinaire (who has previously worked with the likes of Charli XCX, Seeb, Jacob Banks and more) effortlessly spans genres including dance, indie, pop and more in-between.
Opener ‘Hold On’ – a collaboration with the sharp tongue of Sweden’s Mapei – leads with a classic hip-hop beat before breaking into a danceable indie swagger, and has already seen OLSSON achieve high profile acclaim from the likes of Zane Lowe, Noisey and more.
Elsewhere on tracks such as ‘This Heat’ and ‘Satellite (Only Analog Talks)’, OLSSON channels a ‘90s rave influence while also delivering a gnarled Brit indie rock bite, which plays like the tripped-out love child of Kasabian and Jungle.
‘One In A Million’ meanwhile leads with a bright ‘90s garage house beat reminiscent of Disclosure before breaking into the kind of danceable indie-pop swagger that will excite fans of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip.
Regarding the album OLSSON says, “I wanted to capture the feeling you had when you listened to music for the first time when you were a teenager. It was all new, playful and you were never sure what the fuck would happen next. Music is the ultimate playground. You can´t control it.”
On his debut OLSSON has created an album that is a crossbreed of musical flavours which spans generations and continents. It’s an orgy of house pianos, Madchester beats, untamed instrumental work and bruising soul hallmarks. Millions is an unconventional and nostalgically tuned indie-dance pop project, and one that is set to see OLSSON breathe new life into parties around the planet.
